 2 new nursing leadership positions have been assigned by the Helen Devos Children's Hospital. Joan Rikli, MSN, RN and Jeni Wincek, MSN, RN are the 2 that have been given the task of directing certain care for not only our own Grand Rapids children, but also the children of North, South, East and West Michigan. Also meet Dr. Lana Gagin, MD a new-Helen-Devos-Children's-Hospital pediatrician, however not new to pediatrics. Given that, lets meet these two focused women of the Medical Mile community, as well as pediatrician, Dr Gagin. Lets meet Jeni Wincek, MSN, RN.Jeni became a part of the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital back in 2007. She served in the pediatric intensive care unit comprised of research as a clinical nurse specialist. Previous years of service were at Memorial Children's Hospital of South Bend, Goshen General Hospital and the renowned Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Her focus here will be to lead. Leading as " Nursing Director of Pediatrics " she will specialize inpatient nursing units. Jeni received her degree in nursing with a specialty in critial care. Photo courtesy of Devos Children's Hospital.  Now lets meet Joan Rikli, MSN, RN.Joan became a part of the Helen DeVos Childrens' Hospital way back in 2002! She directed the neonatal services. She has prior experience at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan, and at the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Joan will watch over the pediatric sedation services, the blood management program, the pediatric intensive care unit and the neonatal center. Her official title is " Nursing Director of Critical Care Services ". Joan hold a Masters Degree in nursing and a pediatric nurse practiioner degree. A nursing bachelor's degree comes from UCLA. Pediatrician.Lana worked for Advantage Health Physiciains Network for 2 plus years before being a part of DeVos Children's Hospital. Well, actually she completed her residency at DeVos Children's Hospital. As a pediatrician she will care for infants through 17 years of age. Bashkirian State Medical University is where Lana earned her degree. That is in Russia. Now, in June Dr Lana Gagin, MD will earn her Master's Degree in public health from the University of Michigan. A teaching hospital, it includes more than 150 pediatric physicians with specialized training in providing medical and surgical care to children in more than 40 pediatric specialties.
