According to the CDC and other sources, the proportion of the population aged 65 and over is projected to increase from 12.4 percent in 2000 to 19.6 percent (or 1 out of 5 Americans) in 2030. And the age group of 85 and over is the fastest growing segment of the population. Perhaps you’re over 65 or fast approaching that age bracket and have parents in their 70s or 80s.
