victrelisYep, Merck has FDA approval for it's new drug VICTRELIS. It is not a stand alone use, BUT it is the one and only approved drug for chronic Hepatitis C virus in the last 10 years!

And, it is not cheap.

We could give you all the study and blind test stats, but that would confuse our readers.

What you need to know IS:
1.) VICTRELIS treatment is measured in weeks, not days... up to 1 year of a treatment regimen.

2.) VICTRELIS is taken orally.

3.) VICTRELIS is used in conjunction with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin. Not to be taken alone. In fact, the other drugs need to be taken for about a month before starting VICTRELIS.

4.) VICTRELIS side effects appear to be: fatigue, anemia, nausea, headache and dysgeusia (that crummy taste disorder - Oh well).

5.) VICTRELIS is not cheap. But what new medicine is?  $1,100 per week for up to 48 weeks. That is the wholesale cost. Not sure what you and I will end up paying.

6.) VICTRELIS is administered at 800 mg per day for the first 8 weeks then evaluated and again at week 12 and again at week 24 and again at week 36.

Hep C affects about 3.2 million people! We had no idea that many people contracted this virus. It attacks the liver. In fact most people do not even know they have Hepititis C until they have liver problems, which can take several years!

How do you get this virus? - Well, now that you asked, infected blood, birth - the mom has it, sex with infected person, sharing a razor, toothbrush, needle with an  infected person, and unsterilized tattoo or piercing instruments. Be smart OK?

You may read all the clinical info HERE.

You know, this VICTRELIS will help save lives. Maybe yours or someone near and dear to you and you will be glad Merck came up with this one.
